Frenchy Haynes, Founder and CEO of Moving Education Institute, Inc., brings a wealth of wisdom and experience to this role. He has worked as an apprentice dancer with the Dance Theatre of Harlem and as an understudy with the Paul Taylor Dance Company and Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Professionally, he has traveled the world as a member of the Kathryn Posin Dance Company and Nikolais Dance Theatre, among others. Mr. Haynes is a retired New York City Department of Education educator with 28 years of service as a dance specialist, English teacher, arts administrator, and grades 6–12 instructor for students with disabilities.
In addition to serving as a teaching artist facilitating the Revelations Curriculum for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Foundation, Frenchy served as Director of AileyCamp Boston. He has also been a teaching artist for the Joyce Theater Foundation’s School and Family Programs. As a choreographer, his work has been presented at La MaMa (New York City), Harlem School of the Arts, Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD), and the Center for Performance Research (Brooklyn, NY).
He is most passionate about bringing high-quality, inclusive, and accessible dance education programs to schools, faith-based organizations, and community-based organizations. Frenchy Haynes earned a BA in Dance and Dance Education from SUNY Empire State College and holds a Master’s in Language and Literacy from the City College of the City University of New York (CUNY), along with a Master’s in Supervision and Administration from Baruch College of CUNY.
