About the Program

Our program offers hands-on opportunities in various disciplines, including Dance (Performance and Choreography), Theater (Acting and Playwriting), Visual Arts, Drumming, Technology, Engineering, and Food Growth/Food Justice.

Interns play a vital role in supporting our summer programming—including Camp Moving Education—by assisting teaching artists, leading activities, mentoring youth, and contributing to projects that uplift mental health, youth voice, and collective well-being. Interns also receive professional mentorship, participate in daily creative practices, and engage in conversations about equity, community care, and systems change.

Whether you’re an artist, innovator, builder, grower, or performer, this internship is a place to grow your skills while making a meaningful impact.

What our community says

CME has shaped who I am today

Since 2021, Camp Moving Education has shaped me as a dancer, choreographer, and leader, providing a space to express myself through movement and storytelling. The culinary arts track ignited my passion for cooking, earning me certifications and experience with professional chefs to serve my community. As a 2022 CME Intern, I mentored youth, led workshops, and grew in supporting others. Nearing high school graduation, CME has instilled confidence, skills, and a belief in community, making it a true home I’ll always carry forward.

Every year, CME has given me something new

Since 2021, Community Moving Education has been my creative home, where I’ve explored West African dance, drumming, modern art, yoga, visual arts, writing, acting, and cooking. As a Youth Intern for two summers, I’ve led activities and supported younger participants, learning to move, lead, and listen to myself and others. Now in my fifth year, CME continues to build my confidence and self-expression, making it a place I’ll always return to.

CME has truly shaped who I am

Since 2021, Community Moving Education has transformed me as a dancer and person, progressing from participant to Summer Youth Intern since 2022. Before starting at LSU, I’m returning for a final internship, reflecting CME’s deep impact. I’ve choreographed works, assisted professionals, and gained confidence, leadership, and collaboration skills, empowering me to express myself through movement and connect with my community—lessons I’ll always carry with gratitude.

CME has helped my kids become confident

Since 2021, Community Moving Education has profoundly impacted my three children, fostering their confidence, creativity, and community spirit. Two have served as Summer Youth Interns for three years, gaining leadership, teamwork, and mentoring skills. As my oldest prepares for college in fall 2025, I credit CME’s vital role in their growth. More than a program, CME is a supportive family where young people thrive, and I’m deeply grateful for their experience.
