90 Minutes

Performance Arts

CME uses dance to connect kids to their bodies, teaching styles like ballet and hip-hop; music to boost brain power and skills in reading and math; and theater to spark imagination, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth.

About the workshop

Our Dance Curriculum offers students a comprehensive experience that combines the study of dance techniques with the exploration of choreography and performance.Students develop strong technical foundations through training in various dance styles, as well as learning and performing set choreography. In addition, they are given meaningful opportunities to create and perform their original works—cultivating both their artistic voice and confidence as expressive, independent dancers. Dance composition and choreography enable young dancers to become creators, storytellers, and critical thinkers—not just performers. By developing their own choreography, students make artistic choices, express emotions, and share meaningful stories, building confidence and a deeper connection to dance. Working collaboratively, they enhance problem-solving skills and learn how movement, space, and intention combine to create original works. Our curriculum nurtures well-rounded dancers who are both technically skilled and expressive, inspiring them to reach their full potential.

What's included

Daily 90-minute technique classes span a range of dance styles, including ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, West African, and theater dance. The curriculum integrates body mechanics and functional anatomy lessons within these classes, helping dancers understand how their body moves in space and time, all within a nurturing environment that encourages personal growth and artistic discovery. Workshops for dance composition allow dancers to evolve from performers to creators and storytellers. While technique trains the body, composition nurtures the mind and imagination. Students learn to make artistic choices, express emotions, and share meaningful narratives through their choreography. This ownership fosters confidence, self-awareness, and a connection to their art.
